Governance Board Introduction Communication 5

Community, here are some of the positions on the new Governance Board and the standing committees for both Emmaus and Chrysalis with short explanations as to what they will involve from the person filling it. Our hope is that those that feel they have talent and experience in the area can pray and see if God is leading you to offer those talents to help grow our El Shaddai Community. So here we go!
Governance Board Chair – Serves as the leader of our community and is responsible for overseeing all actions and activities of the board, committees and event teams and is a high involvement position.
Governance Board Vice-Chair – Serves as a partner, helper and trainee to the Board Chair and serves as a substitute when the chair is absent. This position is expected to move up to the chair position in the second year of their term.
Past Board Chair – This is intended to be a person to provide stability, wisdom and counsel to the Board Chair and is filled by the past board chair in their third year of their term. In the absence of a secretary, this position will take the notes for any board meetings.
Governance Board Spiritual Director (Community Spiritual Director) acts as the spiritual leader of the Community and helps the board remain centered on Jesus Christ, focused on the purpose of the Emmaus movement, and aware of God’s presence in the decision making process. This person must hold a post-graduate theological or ministerial degree from an accredited institution.
Governance Board Secretary – This person will record the minutes of the board, transcribe the notes and distribute to the board one week prior to the scheduled meetings.
Governance Board Treasurer – This person will manage the community’s finances using approved financial procedures. This will include inflows and outflows for all events in the community.
Governance Board Team Selection Chairperson – This person will oversee the team selection work for every event and ensure the selection process is in accordance with the policies of this board and guidelines from the Upper Room. This position will work with the Team Selection Chair from each sub-committee in the community in preparation for filling teams for all events.
Governance Board Fourth Day Chairperson – This person will work with each sub-committee to oversee the Reunion/Accountability aspect of the Emmaus Ministries to keep our participants connected to a common faith community and some form of small group accountability.
Governance Board Agape Chairperson – This position is responsible for overseeing the work of the Agape committee and insuring agape is present and available for each community event we put on. This position is also responsible for connecting with our 4th day communities nationally and internationally to share general Agape letters from our communities to other walks as well as obtaining letters from other communities for our events.
Governance Board Nominating Committee Chairperson – Responsible for overseeing the work of the Nominating committee in vetting all potential candidates for Governance Board, Emmaus Committee and Chrysalis Committee positions. This person will oversee a committee made up of 4 persons from each area of ministry so we can assure we are getting persons nominated that meet the needs of the positions and thus the community.
