Here are some of the positions for the two new standing committees for both Emmaus and Chrysalis with short explanations as to what they will involve from the person filling it. Our hope is that those that feel they have talent and experience in the area can pray and see if God is leading you to offer those talents to help grow our El Shaddai Community. So here we go…again!

Committee Chair – Organize and lead monthly committee meetings. Give brief report to the community at gatherings, closings, newsletter and web site. Be in attendance at send- off, sponsor hour, candlelight and closing for each walk/flight. Keep current on Upper Room by-laws and help committee to follow them. Work with the walk lay directors up until leadership team is in place and the Board Rep for that walk is assigned. Serve as an ex-officio member of Team Selection Committee. Lastly, participate as a member on the Governance Board representing Chrysalis/Emmaus.

Committee Vice-Chair – Be a partner and helper to the Committee Chair. Be present at all
of the above functions mentioned in the Committee Chair position as much as possible. Substitute for the Committee Chair in case of absence. Learn from Committee Chair during the year. Be prepared to move up into Committee Chair position the following year.

Past Board Chair – This is intended to be a person to provide stability, wisdom and counsel to the Committee Chair and is filled by the past Committee Chair in their third year of their term. In the absence of a secretary, this position will take the notes for any committee meetings.

Committee Spiritual Director – Be a spiritual guide to the committee and be familiar with Upper Room model. Be a partner and guide to the Committee Chair. Have high attendance at committee meetings, conduct communion for sponsor hour, candlelight, and closings for each walk. If the Committee Spiritual Director cannot be present, the Committee Spiritual Director is responsible for securing the attendance of another clergy member of the Committee or Governance Board or past member of the board to cover. Committee Spiritual Director is the clergy selection committee for the walks/flights working with the Governance Board Spiritual Director. And lastly, participate as a member on the Governance Board representing Chrysalis/Emmaus.

Committee Assistant Spiritual Director(s) – Assists and substitutes for Committee Spiritual Director as needed.

Committee Secretary – This person will record the minutes of the committee meetings, transcribe the notes and distribute to the committee chair one week prior to the next scheduled meeting.

Registration Chair – Monitor as liaison that all pilgrim/caterpillar applications, including commitment cards and notifications are being processed. Monitor as liaison that all walk/flight lay directors are being provided with copies of pilgrim/ caterpillar applications as soon as possible, at least before the last team meeting and preferably before the next to last team meeting. Be available to workers at registration table for each walk/flight. Communicate information between the committees and registrars.

Transportation Chair – Coordinate keeping Emmaus/Chrysalis Trailer organized and stocked for each walk/flight. Order supplies as needed, preferably in bulk. Make certain trailer is delivered to walk/flight location and picked up later. Help team load trailer after walk.
Music/AV/Technology Chair – Coordinate the music boxes used on walks/flights, making certain that they are complete at the end of walks/flights and deliver to lay directors for next walk/flight. Oversee the music trailer, keeping it organized and stocked for each walk/flight. Make certain trailer is delivered to walk/flight location and picked up later. Help team load trailer after walk/flight. Keep records of all music at walk/flights (from board reps) and at gatherings for reporting purposes. Technology repair and upgrade suggestions should be made to the governance board when needed.

Maintenance Chair – Work with caretakers of campgrounds to determine maintenance needs prior to walks/flights. Work with transportation and music chairs concerning maintenance of trailers. Order portable toilets for each walk/flight as needed and oversee delivery and pick up. Order and coordinate golf cart rentals for walks/flights as determined necessary.

Communication Chair – Oversee and edit information on organizations webpage, newsletter, or other social media outlets. COMMUNICATE WITH COMMITTEE AND GOVERNANCE BOARD TO ADHERE TO ALL DEADLINES FOR PUBLISHING. Work with the community to choose a newsletter editor. Act as the Webmaster liaison.

Kitchen Chair – A liaison between the Lay Director and the Camp, between the Community and the Camp and with the Agape Dinner volunteers.
Team Selection Chair – Meet with lay directors, team selection committee members, and Board Representatives for that set of walks/flights. Recommend, review, and approve potential team members and final team placement. Answer questions from lay directors, team members, and the community about team selection. Keep an accurate record of all persons who actually worked the walk and position.
